How epoxy crews can win more jobs from their phone

By Gurpreet Singh · October 8, 2026 · 5 min read

Most epoxy contractors spend the day on a grinder, not at a desk. That is exactly why the phone matters. The crews that win more work are usually not the cheapest. They are the ones who respond quickly, look organized and make it easy for a homeowner to say yes.

Answer fast, even if it is short

When a homeowner reaches out, they are often contacting several companies at once. A quick reply that confirms you got their message and asks one or two questions keeps you in the running. If you are on a job, a short text is better than a perfect reply at the end of the day.

Save a few message templates so you are not typing the same thing every time: a first reply, a booking confirmation and a follow up.

Ask for the right details by text

You can qualify a lead before you drive anywhere. Ask for:

  • The address and the rough size of the garage, such as one, two or three cars
  • A few photos of the floor in good light, including any cracks or old coatings
  • Whether the floor has been sealed or painted before
  • When they would like the work done
  • What they are hoping for: flake, metallic, solid colour or not sure yet

Photos alone can tell you if a floor needs extra grinding or repairs, and they help you prepare the right samples.

Measure and quote before you leave

The best time to quote is while you are standing in the garage and the homeowner is engaged. Measure, note the condition, show samples, and build the quote right there. If your prices are already set up, this takes a few minutes. Leaving with a promise to email something later gives a competitor time to send theirs first.

Show options, not just a price

Two or three clear options make the conversation about which floor they want, not whether they want one. For example, a full flake system, a flake system with stem walls, and a metallic option. Put the prices side by side so the choice feels simple.

Send a link they can sign

A quote that opens on a phone, shows the details clearly and can be signed on the spot removes friction. Make sure it includes the area, the system and colour, prep, extras, HST, deposit, cure time, warranty and an expiry date. A written, signed quote also protects you if there is a disagreement later.

Take the deposit right away

Ask for the deposit at the same time as the signature. Offering Interac e-Transfer, and card if you accept it, makes it easy. A deposit locks in the date for both of you and cuts down on last minute cancellations.

Follow up on a schedule

Many quotes are not lost, they are just forgotten. Follow up a day or two after sending, then again a few days later. Keep it friendly and short. Ask if they have questions or want to see another colour.

Turn every job into the next lead

  • Take before and after photos on every job with your phone, from the same angles
  • Ask happy customers for a review while you are still on site
  • Keep your Google Business Profile updated with recent photos and accurate hours
  • Have a simple web page where people can see your work and request a quote

Over time, your own photos and reviews become your best sales tool, especially in neighbourhoods where you have already done several garages.
